So I’ve unfortunately allowed this blog to fall by the wayside this past month. I’ll explain myself below but I’m sorry I let things go. I fully intended to keep up with this blog while I was going to school. I did for about the first month, but then things god, were stressful to say the very least.
At the beginning of February I was in the hospital for a few days to get my gallbladder out. Before this, I had to sit in the ER for nearly a day. I was happy to be finally in the hospital. It took them an extra day to perform surgery. It took another day for me to recover. It knocked out a good week of time.
So it took me about two weeks to recover. And just a few days after I got out of the hospital my eleven year old cat Charlie. She was named after an old Disney show if anyone remembers. She suddenly died, so this month has been a roller coaster for me and I’ve been a little down. Luckily March is already starting to look up.
So I thought I’d share my reading graphic for Storygraph and go over what I read this past month.

Despite dealing with the hospital and depression last month was pretty productive. I spent the majority of my time working on Immortal Dark by Tigest Grima. I got for Christmas and really enjoyed. I’ll have my review of it up soon. Anyway I’ve been trying to read more long books and Immortal Dark was the first one on my list.
I also very much enjoyed We Still Belong by Christine Day. I really like Christine Day’s writing. I’ve read her last two middle grade novels, I Can Make This Promise and The Sea in Winter. And I can say she definitely stays up to her standard when it comes to We Still Belong. It’s a rousing middle grade tale that focuses on the importance of family and community.
Though perhaps my favorite book this month came at the very end. I got an ARC of Lu and Ren’s Guide to Geozoology by Angela Hsieh. and fell in love from the first page. The art is reminiscent of K. ONeil’s The Tea Dragon Society.
The story is charming and focuses on the issues of language and family and the importance, or burden of tradition. It’s already on my way to becoming one of my favorite books of the year.
Finally I read a few graphic novels such as Hoops, A-Okay, and Chickenpox. They were all very good but the above three were the standouts of the month.
I hope all of you had a better February than I did. And I can’t wait to get back into writing on the blog and posting on Insta more regularly for March. Have any questions? Let me know in the comments.
