Review of ‘Stuck’: A Middle-Grade Graphic Novel Must-Read

I hope everyone is having a good Friday. I’ve got a Dungeons and Dragons game tonight. and we haven’t played in a few weeks. So I’m excited to get back to our world of pirates and foolishness.

I’ve been reading a good bit this week, mostly finishing off a few graphic novels for Netgalley. The first of which is Stuck by Kayla Miller. This graphic novel takes place in the larger Click universe. The series started with fifth grader Olive and her friends and has expanded to include other friends and their adventures.

Synopsis

This volume sees Olive and Willow back at Camp Acorn Lake with their new friend from school Nat. The first book I read in the series was Act. That also takes place at Camp Acorn Lake so I’m happy to see the setting used again.

This year things are going fine for the Willow and Olive, who had a fight last year. But there are new challenges Olive’s friends Max and Bree who are now on the out and out. Olive does her best to enjoy camp. But the two of them constantly fighting and wanting her to choose a side is becoming too much.

Not only does she have to deal with that. But Nat has nothing but a bad attitude when it comes to everything about being at Camp Acorn Lake. She hates the bugs, the lack of air conditioners, the being in nature. Will Olive be able to salvage her summer with so many negative aspects going on?

This is another great entry into the Click universe. Fans and newcomers alike will enjoy seeing more of Olive and her friends.

Review

The book is a perfect one for any young person who wants to read about friendships. Or a person who might have trouble when it comes to meddling in others friendships.

The art was beautiful and detailed and they story fit well within the Click universe. The story brought in of old favorites. Plus newer characters to learn more about and an engaging plot which kept the reader interested . I’d give this five stars. Its is the perfect middle grade graphic novel.

I can’t wait to see more from Miller in her various titles. I enjoy the relatable way Miller deals with serious issues, for example fights between friends and dealing with responsibility. Check out Stuck when it comes out on May 6th 2025.
