Joy of Christmas Book Tag

Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate. I’m doing another book tag to help round out the holiday. Feel free to steal this from me and consider yourself tagged.

1) Anticipation: The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?

I’m anticipating some new manga such as the next volume of Apothocary Diaries and Friren. I’m also excited about a new manga called The Elegant Courtly Life of the Tea Witch. This manga seems like it will be cute and cozy exactly what I like in a manga. I’m also excited for Ginsing Roots, a graphic novel exploring the child labor and class divides in the Ginsing Industry. Another non-fiction I want to look into is Marsha which is a definitive biography of trans hero Marsha P. Johnson.

2) Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?

I love anything by Alexis Hall. They have a great grasp on romance and storytelling and I enjoy their worldview when I read their reviews. My favorite by them is For Real, and it is a favorite of my partner and I. I also enjoy anything Molly Knox Ostertag touches. This is a bit of a hard question. I think the final one that I enjoy K. O’Neill I love their outlook and their artwork.

3) Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world-building?

The current series that I’m enjoying that I think has great world building is Consort of Fire by Kit Rocha. I also enjoyed the world building in All the Painted Stars by Emma Denny. Finally I enjoyed the world-building in Belladonna by Adalyn Grace.

4) A Christmas Carol: Favorite classic or one that you want to read

I’m honestly not interested in classics, I think they get over-hyped. I’m not saying that older books are all bad. If I was pressed I’d probably pick something by Jane Austen. I’d most likely want to read Emma since I’ve read a lot of modern retellings recently

5) Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas?

Oh this is a tough one? Some of the books that I’ve asked for are The Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma. This book features a new Black spin on the vampire genre. I also asked for the special editions of The Games Gods Play by Abigail Own and All the Stars are Dying by Chloe C. Peñaranda. I’d still be happy with anything by K. ONeil too.

6) Candles in the Window: What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

I really like A Sign of Affection by suu Morishita it is one of the sweetest mangas I’ve read in quite some time. It focus on a Deaf woman and her internationally traveling boyfriend.

7) 7) Christmas Trees & Decorations: What are some of your favorite book covers?

Here are some of my favorites from this year.

8) Christmas Joy: What are some of your favorite things about Christmas And/Or some of your favorite Christmas memories?

My favorite things about Christmas include baking, I love a good Christmas cookie especially ones you can ice. I also enjoy things with peppermint and red velvet. I like watching Home Alone every year and going to see the lights around my town. Finally I love decorating the tree and love looking at it while I read.

Do you have any plans for tomorrow? Whether or not you celebrate I’m hoping that you have a good week!
