I can’t believe 2025 is next month. I thought I’d lay out my plans for the year by month and at large. Below I’ll list some of the challenges I’m going to try and take part in. While I’m mostly a mood reader, I want to try working within some tighter parameters this coming year.
First let me start with the number I want to hit. I’m looking to go for 125 books with a stretch goal of 150. If I get anything over that number it will just be the icing on the cake.

Year Long Readathons
I’m going to start with doing a Orilium Adventure in Aeldia. Adventure in Aeldia is where you read books that meet certain challenges each month. If you finish and get bonuses for your Orilium character.
I’m a big fan of BookRoast Orilium readathon but I’ve fallen off with these challenges in the past few years. However I can’t wait for trying to read with the whole Orilium Community.
Another year long challenge that I plan on doing is the Fantasy Diversity Challenge. This focuses mostly on reading books from diverse authors. It should easily match my current reading habits. This approach will also support my wish to tackle longer novels in the new year.
I’m doing the Tackle Your TBR Challenge which focuses on using the library and your own TBR. I need to do this one because I’m going through my library. I am planning to move in the next few years. I would like to declutter as much as I can, not that books count as clutter, that is sacrilegious. But I want to make sure I only have my favorites in my collection.
Some other readathons I’m planning on include The Storygraph Genre Challenge. This challenge focuses on picking up genre’s split across fiction and non-fiction that you would probably not pick up otherwise.
I’m also doing the PopSugar Challenge which was recommended to me by friends. What challenges are you doing?
Seasonal Readathons
These readathons are ones that I plan on participating in that happen in certain seasons throughout the year. For example, Non-Fiction November and reading Indigenous books in November for an example of fall.
The first and probably most labor intensive one is going to be the two semesters of the Magical Readathon. I’m going to try and just focus on my calling and maybe a few quests. Mostly I just want to interact with the community and have a good time. I may try and sneak in a few different novels that are longer.
I think the problems I ran into in prior years were that I got overwhelmed. The amount of extra stuff became too much. I think if I just focus on the basic I’ll do better, also starting in the spring this year should be helpful.
I’m listing below the readathons that I’m going to try in various months. Others will be announced and pop up throughout the year but I’m keeping this as a master list.
