Upcoming Comics You Can’t Miss in November

Since I’ve been reading mostly comics and graphic novels lately. I thought I’d focus on some upcoming releases for this month that I’m interested in checking out.

1) The Fade

From Critical Role fame Aabria Iyengar and webcomic cartoonist Mari Costa comes a new coming of age series. Jeannie who was once a fearless high school student isn’t prepared for the aimless feeling being a college freshman gives her. But Jeannie life is about to change when she learns about the Fade.

A new viral internet sensation that is based on mirror myths where people have claimed to passed over to another world on the other side. What awaits Jeannie and her best friend Arno on the other side. Prepare for royal adventures, ancient prophecies and perhaps something more dangerous.

About the Author

Aabria Iyengar is an American web series actress known primarily for tabletop role-playing game anthologies, streams and podcasts. She was the Dungeon Master for the first season of Exandria Unlimited.

Mari Costa is a Luso-Brazilian cartoonist with a bachelor’s degree in Character Animation. She’s in love with creating stories and populating them with people who have very messy interpersonal drama. Some of her work includes Life of Melody, The Demon of Beausoleil, and Belle of the Ball.

2) Kahhori Shaper of Worlds

This comic featuring the Mohawk heroine from Marvel’s “What If?” series picks up after the events of the television episode where Kahhori saved her world from the demented Doctor Strange.

So what is she doing now? The comic explores Kahhori’s launching into the Marvel main world 616. The comic features exciting guest stars and is an anthology focusing on celebrating Indigenous heritage.

Afua Richardson [ Pronounced Uh-FOO-wah ] is an American illustrator, author, musician, singer, songwriter, and mentor. In 2007, she made history as one of the first Indigenous Afro-American female artists to work for Marvel Comics as a penciler, inker, and colorist, earning the Nina Simone Award for artistic excellence.

She is best known for her work on the Eisner Award-winning series Black Panther World of Wakanda. This graphic novel marked the first Black Female writer-artist team to create a story for Marvel comics. Her contributions to that book influenced the Three-time Academy Award-winning blockbuster film by introducing the African philosophical symbolism seen in the first film and story elements that provided the basis for the second.

3) Teen Titans Starfire

This is the latest in a series by Kami Garcia. She has previously written books about Raven and Beast Boy. This is a re imagining of Stafire and Blackfire’s origin story. Kori Anders is somewhat bored at her summer job at a ritzy club in Santa Monica. She doesn’t care about keeping up with the parties and current trends the same way her sister is. Instead she’s focused on the stars or hanging out with her new friend Victor Stone.

Her sister Kira on the other hand is the most popular girl in school with the hottest clothes and an even hotter boyfriend named Tate Fairweather. Kira is Kori’s opposite in every way. The summer heats up for the girls when Tate’s uncle asks them to join in an Ehlers Danlos Syndrome study that his pharmaceutical company is running

During the treatment Kori develops some strange powers she’s never had before. And her sister might have developed powers as well. Can Kori convince her sister to trust her? But when a car full of teens with their own powers comes looking for her to warn her about a creepy stalker, Kori must learn trust is a two way street.

4)Love Advice from the Grand Duke of Hell

From Webtoon Unscrolled this graphic novel by unfins deals with a boy who is looking for help with love advice. The girl of Paul’s dreams barely knows he exists, his friends can’t help and his family is clueless.

So who does he turn to for love advice. He decided to summon a powerful demon from the deep recesses of Hell and hope for the best. The demon that comes forward it the Great Duke Astaroth. Astaroth is ruler of thirty legions of bloodthirsty hell creatures and powerful enough to raise cities to the ground.

Now he finds himself on the mortal plain compelled to give a kid dating advice? Not only is it a strange situation but Paul and Astaroth soon realize that Paul’s dad is hiding something and so is the girl who is the object of all of Paul’s scheming.

5) Girl in the Midnight Gown

Lela is looking for her twin sister Darby who has been missing for days. No one can find her. Until Lela recieves a mysterious message that guides her to a barbershop that has a mysterious thousand year history. Abe’s Barbershop serves a unique clientele, heroes. And after she meets a Sarah, the girl in the midnight gown, Lela sets off into a magical fairytale world to seek out Darby. However in this magical world nothing is quite what it seems.

Lela’s twin sister, Darby, has been missing for days, and no one can find her. Until, that is, Lela receives a mysterious message, which guides her to Abe’s, a barbershop that’s been around for a thousand years, serving its very unique customers; heroes. With the aid of Sarah-the girl in the midnight gown-Lela sets off into a magical, fairy-tale, world to seek out Darby, unaware that nothing is quite what it seems…

Simon Birks

Simon Birks is a UK based author who writes in many mediums, including plays and film, novels and comics.

As well as writing novels, Simon has written films, including co-writing ‘The Search for Simon’ which Michael Palin (Monty Python) called ‘Very silly’. He is very happy with this.

In 2015 he started Blue Fox Publishing to publish his comics and novels, and over the last few years has grown to be a trusted name in the small press comics arena. Blue Fox now publish other creators works and are expanding slowly and steadily.

In 2019, Simon moved to Scotland, because, well, who wouldn’t given the chance?

His first Top Cow and Image comic, Antarctica, arrived in July 2023.
